Scope of Position:

Performs drafting functions for the plant including designing and drafting drawings for shop details from customer requests, and reviewing and creating drawings for appropriate departments.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates accurate 3D models from sketches or verbal instruction
  • Drafts shop fabrication details
  • Creates solutions for Engineering or per customer requests
  • Completes material take-off requirements
  • Creates glass releases and calculates quantities required
  • Creates release drawings for fabrication
  • Provides assistance to other department members as needed
  • Prepares material take-offs and prepares hardware lists
  • Coordinates discussions between Project Managers and Engineers
  • Coordinates with Architects during approval stages
  • Provides training to new employees within the department, as requested
  • Maintains archive record of past projects
  • Assists in developing work standards
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested

Position Requirements:

The Drafter must possess the minimum knowledge listed below:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/trade school in architecture or other related field
  • Three or more years of experience with Architectural metal and panels, Inventor, and 3D AutoCAD
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and Inventor Software
  • Experience in reading architectural drawings and blueprints
  • Ability to use computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Performs appropriate machine maintenance as directed
  • Performs maintenance on air hand tools including: drills, screw guns, air nailers, and other tools as assigned
  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment and grounds as needed

  • Inspects drive belts and greases bearings on blowers and fan motors through-out the plant

Included must have been 5 years experience: with active chilled beams technology and HVAC product applications; in product design; in sheet metal fabrication; and, in practical use of AutoCAD and Inventor software.
